LEMD1 antisense RNA 1 (LEMD1-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the antisense strand of the LEMD1 gene. LEMD1-AS1 is implicated in several cancers, notably oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and ovarian cancer. In OSCC, LEMD1-AS1 is upregulated in metastatic tumors and promotes tumor cell migration and invasion by stabilizing LEMD1 mRNA, leading to increased LEMD1 protein levels and activation of the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway. In ovarian cancer, LEMD1-AS1 expression is reduced, and overexpression suppresses tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion through negative regulation of miR-183-5p and upregulation of TP53. LEMD1-AS1 is considered a potential therapeutic target and diagnostic/prognostic biomarker for cancer metastasis, though no direct drug interactions are currently reported[1][3][4][6][9].
