Overview

Leucine-rich repeat and death domain-containing protein 1 (LRRD1) is a human protein encoded by the LRRD1 gene. The protein contains leucine-rich repeats (LRR), which are structural motifs involved in mediating protein-protein interactions, and a death domain (DD), which is commonly found in proteins involved in apoptosis or inflammation signaling. However, the specific molecular functions of LRRD1 remain poorly understood and it is currently considered a protein of uncertain function. No described enzymatic activity or direct receptor signaling role is attributed to LRRD1, and it is not recognized as a target for drug therapy or as a disease biomarker. Its roles—if any—are likely to be as a scaffold/adaptor protein facilitating complexes of other signaling molecules.
