Overview

Leucine rich repeat containing 37 member A12, pseudogene (LRRC37A12P) is a human pseudogene located on chromosome 17. As a pseudogene, LRRC37A12P does not encode a functional protein and thus is not considered a canonical molecular target for therapy, nor does it have a substantiated role in cellular signaling, enzymatic activity, or regulation[1][3][7]. There are numerous expressed protein-coding relatives within the LRRC37 family, some with putative functions in vesicular trafficking and membrane localization[2], but LRRC37A12P is distinguished by its "pseudogene" annotation and does not have direct protein function. While some pseudogenes in the genome serve regulatory functions by acting as competing endogenous RNAs for microRNA binding[5][6], no such regulatory function has been characterized for LRRC37A12P. No known associations exist between LRRC37A12P and clinical phenotypes, disease, drugs, or biomarkers. Its genomic annotation reflects evolutionary duplication and divergence rather than preserved biological activity. Note: - LRRC37A12P is correctly annotated as a pseudogene and does not meet the criteria for a therapeutic target. - No actionable molecular or clinical information is associated with LRRC37A12P as of current genome and biomedical databases[1][3][7][8].

Biological functions

Other (No direct function; pseudogenes do not have canonical coding capacity. Some pseudogenes play roles as regulatory RNAs or competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs), but there is no evidence documenting such a role for LRRC37A12P specifically)

Disease associations

Other (No disease associations or roles are reported for LRRC37A12P)
