Overview
Leucine-rich repeat-containing protein 18 is a member of the leucine-rich repeat (LRR) superfamily, characterized by repetitive motifs facilitating protein-protein interactions and structural scaffolding functions. The protein is predicted to regulate spermatogenesis and sperm maturation, but its precise biological role in humans remains incompletely characterized. LRRC18 is associated with certain rare genetic diseases such as autosomal recessive deafness and chromosome deletion syndromes, but there is no evidence to support its direct function as a therapeutic target or its involvement in common signaling, enzymatic, transporter, or receptor pathways. No drug interactions or biomarker roles have been reported.
