Overview

Leucine-rich repeat-containing protein 19 (LRRC19) is a type I transmembrane receptor from the LRR-only subgroup of the LRR superfamily, structurally related to Toll-like receptors. It functions as a pattern recognition receptor mediating innate and adaptive immune responses by activating NF-kappaB and inducing proinflammatory cytokines[5][4]. It is expressed predominantly in the intestine, kidney, and spleen, participates in host defense by recognizing pathogenic signals, and plays roles in regulating epithelial barrier integrity, inflammation, and cell proliferation. LRRC19 is implicated as a tumor suppressor in colorectal and renal cancer, modulating the immune microenvironment and cell cycle, and contributes to gastrointestinal and cutaneous inflammatory diseases[2][4][5]. Its interactions in metabolic and immune signaling pathways underscore its importance in health and disease, though direct drug targeting is still largely experimental.
