Leucine-rich repeat-containing protein 34 (LRRC34) is a cytoplasmic and nucleolar protein highly expressed in stem cells, with predicted roles in regulation of pluripotency regulators such as OCT4 (POU5F1) and KLF4, expression of lineage marker genes, and stem cell proliferation[1]. It is structurally characterized by leucine-rich repeat domains, which are implicated in protein–protein interactions and may play diverse roles depending on the protein context[3]. LRRC34 has been associated with cell differentiation, and genetic variants of LRRC34 have been linked to altered protein structure and possible roles in diseases such as cancer and primary ciliary dyskinesia[1][2]. There is currently no evidence to support its status as a validated therapeutic drug target or a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or similar classical target class[1][3].
