Overview

Leucine-rich repeat-containing protein 36 (LRRC36) is a member of the LRR (leucine-rich repeat) protein family, characterized by multiple leucine-rich repeat motifs, which primarily serve as structural frameworks for protein–protein interactions. LRRC36 is also cited as ROR gamma-binding protein 70 and is hypothesized to bind to the RORγ receptor, but its functional role remains uncharacterized. Most LRR-containing proteins facilitate diverse cellular processes such as immune response, receptor signaling, and gene regulation; however, specific functions for LRRC36 have not been experimentally verified to date. Clustering analyses place LRRC36 near gene-regulatory LRR proteins such as CEP72, suggesting potential, but as yet undefined, roles in transcriptional regulation or cellular signaling, meriting further study. No interacting drugs, clinical biomarkers, or safety concerns have been described for this protein. Notes: - LRRC36 is not currently recognized as a validated therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or established disease biomarker. - The precise physiological and pathological significance of LRRC36 remains undetermined in the available literature. - Aliases such as "ROR gamma-binding protein 70" and "heat shock regulated 2" are reported but not functionally well-characterized.
