Overview

Leucine-rich repeat-containing protein 61 (LRRC61) is a cytoplasmic protein encoded by the LRRC61 gene on human chromosome 7. It belongs to the leucine-rich repeat domain superfamily, characterized by regions containing the leucine-rich repeat motif. LRRC61 is predicted to bind alpha-tubulin and dynein heavy chain, suggesting a role in the assembly of the outer dynein arm, critical for the structure and function of cellular cilia and flagella. Its paralog is LRRC9. LRRC61 is not currently recognized as a therapeutic target, and there is no direct mechanistic link to human disease, though some database associations with hypophosphatasia exist. No drugs, biomarkers, or safety concerns are documented for this protein. In summary, LRRC61 is a structurally annotated cytoplasmic protein involved with the cytoskeleton, with limited functional characterization and no current clinical relevance as a drug target.
