Overview

Leucine-rich repeat LGI family member 4 (LGI4) is a secreted protein implicated in the regulation of myelination and axon segregation predominantly in the peripheral nervous system. It acts as a component of Schwann cell signaling pathways essential for proper nerve development. Mutations or dysfunction in LGI4 are associated with neurogenic disorders such as arthrogryposis multiplex congenita and childhood absence epilepsy. LGI4 is chiefly localized to the extracellular space and is expressed notably in nervous system tissues.
