Overview

The **Leukemia inhibitory factor receptor–gp130 complex** is a heterodimeric cell-surface receptor complex formed by the binding of the cytokine leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) to the LIF receptor beta (LIFRβ), which then associates with the signal-transducing co-receptor glycoprotein 130 (gp130, also called IL6ST)[2][5][6][9]. Both LIFR and gp130 are class I cytokine receptors. The LIFR–gp130 complex is essential for normal development, immune function, and tissue regeneration, but is also implicated in multiple diseases such as cancer, inflammation, and neurodegeneration.
