Leukocyte Immunoglobulin-Like Receptor B (LILRB)

Target
LILRB
Molecular classification
Receptor, Immunoglobulin-like receptor
01

Overview

The Leukocyte Immunoglobulin-Like Receptor B (LILRB) family comprises inhibitory immune receptors that regulate immune responses by transmitting inhibitory signals. They are characterized by extracellular immunoglobulin domains and intracellular immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIMs). LILRBs are expressed on various immune cells and bind to MHC class I molecules, including HLA-G, leading to the recruitment of phosphatases and downregulation of activating pathways. These receptors play a crucial role in maintaining self-tolerance, preventing autoimmunity, and are implicated in cancer immune evasion and infectious disease.
