Target intelligence / Profile preview
Leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor subfamily A member 1 pseudogene (ENSG00000240197) is a nonfunctional copy of the functional LILRA1 gene. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences that closely resemble corresponding functional genes but have lost the ability to encode or produce a functional protein product, often due to disabling mutations or processing events such as retrotransposition[2][4][6]. As such, this pseudogene has sequence similarity to the functional LILRA1 receptor but does not contribute to protein production, signaling, or immune regulation. Pseudogenes can complicate genetic analyses but are not considered therapeutic targets and have no established role in immune function or disease processes[2][6].
