Leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor subfamily B member 2 (LILRB2)

Target
LILRB2
Molecular classification
Type I transmembrane protein, Receptor

Overview

Leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor subfamily B member 2 (LILRB2), also known as ILT4, is an inhibitory immune receptor primarily expressed on myelomonocytic cells. It binds to both classical and non-classical MHC class I molecules and β-Amyloid, transducing inhibitory signals via ITIMs. LILRB2 plays a role in immune regulation, inflammation control, cancer progression, and neurodegeneration associated with Alzheimer's disease.

Mechanism of action

Inhibits activation of immune responses by downregulating co-stimulatory molecules on dendritic cells. Promotes tolerogenic properties in dendritic cells leading to T cell anergy. Transduces inhibitory signals upon ligand binding via ITIMs that recruit phosphatases such as SHP-1.
