Lewis Y Antigen (LeY)

Target
LeY
Molecular classification
Carbohydrate, Glycan, Oncofetal antigen, Histo-blood group antigen
01

Overview

The Lewis Y antigen (LeY) is a fucosylated tetrasaccharide carbohydrate molecule overexpressed on the surface of various solid tumors, including those of the lung, intestine, breast, prostate, pancreas, esophagus, stomach, colon, rectum, and ovary. It functions in cell adhesion, promoting tumor invasion and metastasis. Due to its restricted expression profile outside of tumors, LeY is considered a promising target for chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies and other immunotherapeutic strategies.
