Target intelligence / Profile preview
LGALSL divergent transcript (LGALSL-DT, LOC105374771) is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) annotated in the human genome[1][7]. It is a *non-protein-coding* transcript and does not encode a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other canonical therapeutic target. The function of LGALSL-DT is not characterized, and there is no evidence linking it directly to disease roles, drug interactions, or use as a biomarker[1][7]. The term "divergent transcript" refers to a class of lncRNAs that originate from bidirectional promoter activity, producing RNA transcripts opposite a coding gene—in this case, the LGALSL (Galectin-like) gene[4]. The biological and clinical significance of LGALSL-DT is presently unknown and it is not considered a therapeutic target or established biomarker[1][7][4]. - There is nothing in available references to suggest that LGALSL-DT encodes a functional protein, much less a receptor, enzyme, or targetable molecule. - The name LGALSL-DT can easily be confused with *LGALSL* (Galectin-like protein), a structurally distinct coding gene, but LGALSL-DT itself is a divergent, noncoding transcript. - Most divergent or antisense lncRNAs like LGALSL-DT remain functionally uncharacterized, and their roles—if any—are as yet speculative[4].
