Overview

LHFPL tetraspan subfamily member 7 (LHFPL7), also known as TMEM211, is a protein-coding gene in humans located at chromosome 22q11.23 and encodes a 200-amino acid protein predicted to have four transmembrane regions[2][3][4]. It is a member of the lipoma HMGIC fusion partner-like (LHFP) gene family, a tetraspan transmembrane protein superfamily[3]. While its precise biological function remains unclear, recent evidence suggests that high expression of LHFPL7 (TMEM211) correlates with increased metastatic potential and poor prognosis in colon cancer, possibly through activation of the ERK, AKT, and NF-κB pathways and regulation of epithelial–mesenchymal transition markers[2]. It is not currently established as a common or validated therapeutic target, and there are no known drugs directly acting on LHFPL7. Its clinical and functional relevance requires further research.
