Overview

LIM domain-binding protein 2 (LDB2) is a nuclear adaptor and member of the LIM-domain binding family characterized by an amino-terminal homodimerization domain and a carboxy-terminal LIM interaction domain[1][3]. LDB2 acts as an adapter molecule for the assembly of transcriptional regulatory complexes, binding to more than 10,000 genomic targets and interacting with transcription factors such as LHX2, LMO2, LMO3, LMO4, SSBP2/3/4, and RLIM[3]. LDB2 is integral to transcriptional regulation in neuronal cells and plays a significant role in gene networks associated with mental disorders like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder[3]. Its functional disruption leads to behavioral abnormalities in animal models, reflecting its importance in brain development and function. LDB2 also regulates the expression of other genes (e.g., DLL4) and is implicated in various biological and disease processes[5].
