LIM domain kinase 2 (LIMK2) is a serine/threonine-protein kinase that regulates actin filament dynamics by phosphorylating cofilin, thereby inhibiting its actin-depolymerizing activity and stabilizing filamentous (F)-actin. It plays essential roles in cell morphology changes, embryonic development, and has been implicated as an oncogene in certain cancers. LIMK2 is activated by phosphorylation through Rho-associated kinase (ROCK), linking extracellular signals to changes in the cytoskeleton.
