Overview
LIM homeobox protein 4 (LHX4) is a transcription factor containing LIM domains, involved in regulating gene expression during embryonic development. It plays a critical role in the differentiation and development of the pituitary gland, retina, and certain parts of the nervous system. Mutations in LHX4 are associated with combined pituitary hormone deficiency, syndromic short stature, and other developmental defects of the pituitary and hindbrain. LHX4 is not currently a therapeutic target for drugs but is important for understanding disease mechanisms in endocrine and neural developmental disorders[1][3][4][6].
