These metabolites are critical in regulating inflammation, immune response, and cellular signaling. Dysregulation of this pathway is implicated in diseases such as cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, cancer, and inflammatory disorders. Enzymes involved include delta-6 desaturase, elongases, cyclooxygenases, lipoxygenases, and cytochrome P450s[1][2][3][5][7].
