Overview

Lipid peroxidation is a chemical process in which oxidants, particularly free radicals, attack lipids containing carbon-carbon double bonds—most notably polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs)—resulting in oxidative degradation of these lipids. This process is a major form of oxidative damage in biological systems and plays a significant role in cell injury, aging, and various diseases.
