Overview
Liprin-beta-1-like pseudogene (ENSG00000256625, LOC124902904) is a nonfunctional genomic DNA sequence homologous to the liprin-beta-1 gene (also known as PPFIBP1). Pseudogenes like this arise by duplication or retrotransposition of protein-coding genes, but contain mutations that prevent them from encoding a functional protein. There is no evidence that liprin-beta-1-like pseudogene encodes a protein or mediates biological or disease processes, nor is it considered a therapeutic drug target. While pseudogenes can sometimes act as gene expression regulators or biomarkers, there is currently no data supporting such a role for this pseudogene. This entry does not represent a protein- or RNA-coding gene and is not a therapeutic/biological target under current scientific conventions.
