Live attenuated Listeria monocytogenes (Lm) is a genetically modified, weakened form of the intracellular bacterial pathogen L. monocytogenes. It is used as an immunotherapeutic agent and vaccine vector to stimulate robust innate and adaptive immune responses, particularly for infectious diseases and cancer immunotherapy. Attenuation typically involves deletion of key virulence genes, which reduces pathogenicity while preserving the bacterium’s ability to infect host cells and induce immunity.
Stimulates innate and adaptive immune responses through intracellular infection and antigen presentation. Activates MyD88, STING/IRF3, and inflammasome pathways.
