Liver function pathways" is a nonspecific term encompassing numerous molecular networks in the liver that underlie its major physiological duties. Dysregulation or mutation of these pathways contributes to a broad spectrum of hepatic diseases, including fatty liver disease, drug-induced hepatotoxicity, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer. Because this is not a single molecule or druggable protein but a collective concept, it cannot be cataloged as a "target" in the strict pharmacological sense.
