Target intelligence / Profile preview
Plasmodium falciparum Liver-Stage Antigen 1 (LSA-1) is a protein uniquely expressed by the malaria parasite *P. falciparum* during its development in human liver cells, specifically within infected hepatocytes. LSA-1 plays an essential role during late liver-stage schizogony and is a vaccine candidate due to its restricted expression profile, immunogenicity, and essential function at a bottleneck stage between asymptomatic infection and clinical disease onset.
Vaccine development target; induces humoral and cellular immunity
