LLP homolog, long-term synaptic facilitation factor (LLPH)

Target
LLPH
Molecular classification
Protein coding gene, RNA binding protein, Nucleolar protein
01

Overview

LLP homolog, long-term synaptic facilitation factor (LLPH) is a protein coding gene primarily expressed in human neurons and nucleoli. LLPH encodes a protein with RNA binding ability and is predicted to be involved in neuronal development, including dendrite extension and regulation of dendritic spine growth, critical for synaptic function and plasticity. The gene is located on chromosome 12 in humans. LLPH is named after the Aplysia protein linked to long-term synaptic facilitation, but its exact biological role in humans appears related to neuronal structure rather than direct signaling. There are currently no drugs targeting human LLPH, and it is not widely recognized as a therapeutic target or biomarker in human disease
