LLPH pseudogene 1 (LLPHP1)

Target
LLPHP1
Molecular classification
pseudogene, retropy, processed pseudogene
01

Overview

LLPH pseudogene 1 (LLPHP1) is a processed pseudogene located on human chromosome 4 (chr4:129303766-129304036), derived as a retrocopy of the protein-coding parental gene LLPH (LLP homolog, long-term synaptic facilitation). Processed pseudogenes like LLPHP1 are created via reverse transcription and genomic integration of mRNA, typically lacking introns and no longer encoding proteins[7]. LLPHP1 does not encode a functional protein, receptor, or enzyme, and is not a known therapeutic target. Some pseudogenes can play regulatory roles in gene expression, disease modulation, or act as decoys for microRNAs, but no functional data currently links LLPHP1 to such activities in humans[1][3][7]. It should not be considered a canonical therapeutic target, and its inclusion in drug or target lists is likely incorrect.

02

Mechanism of action

None. No mechanism of action is associated with LLPHP1, either as a direct drug target or in regulatory disease pathways.

03

Biological functions

None confirmed for LLPHP1. While pseudogenes can regulate gene expression via noncoding RNAs or miRNA decoy functions, there is no evidence that LLPHP1 has such a role.
04

Disease associations

None established. Some pseudogenes (like PTENP1) act as regulatory noncoding RNAs in cancer, diabetes, and other diseases, but there are no known associations for LLPHP1.
05

Safety considerations

None. As a pseudogene, LLPHP1 does not pose therapeutic safety concerns, nor are there challenges associated with its modulation.
06

Interacting drugs

None. LLPHP1 is non-coding and not directly targeted by approved or experimental drugs.
07

Biomarkers

None. LLPHP1 is not used as a biomarker for patient selection or efficacy monitoring.
