Overview

LNCOC1, also known as lncRNA associated with ovarian cancer 1, is a long non-coding RNA gene affiliated with the lncRNA class[3][4][5]. It has been described as an oncogenic factor in various cancers, especially ovarian cancer and melanoma[1]. In ovarian cancer, LNCOC1 promotes cell proliferation and migration, possibly by functioning as a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) that sponges microRNAs such as miR-34a and miR-34c[2]. In melanoma, LNCOC1 is upregulated and associated with poor prognosis; its increased expression enhances tumor cell invasion and migration, partly regulated by interaction with miR-124[1]. LNCOC1 is thus considered a potential therapeutic target and prognostic biomarker, although clinical targeting strategies remain experimental.
