The manipulation of this microenvironment—through biomaterials, drug delivery, or cellular therapies—aims to optimize bone regeneration, minimize fibrosis, and prevent pathological remodeling. This concept is foundational in bone tissue engineering, scaffold design, and regenerative medicine, and its dysfunction is implicated in conditions such as non-union fractures, osteoarthritis, and age-related bone healing deficits.
