Overview

Local microvasculature formation in damaged tissue is the process by which new small blood vessels (microvessels) are generated within injured or healing tissues. This process is essential for restoring oxygen and nutrient supply, removing waste products, and supporting overall tissue repair and regeneration. Angiogenesis, the primary mechanism, involves endothelial cell proliferation, migration, and remodeling stimulated by growth factors like VEGF, bFGF, PDGF, TGF-α/β, and Angiopoietin-1. Inadequate microvascular formation leads to poor healing, while excessive or disorganized formation can also be problematic.
