Overview

LONG-002 is a proprietary target gene identified by Longaevus Technologies (through its SeneXcell project) that plays a critical role in the chronic inflammation associated with aging, often referred to as inflammaging [2, 3]. It was discovered through a high-throughput screen of over 700 genes in primary skin fibroblasts from elderly individuals, where its inhibition was found to have a significant rejuvenating effect on human cells [3, 11]. LONG-002 is believed to be a key mediator in the inflammatory cascade triggered by the accumulation of DNA damage, a hallmark of the aging process [3, 13]. By suppressing this cascade, inhibitors of LONG-002 aim to restore cellular homeostasis and treat age-related inflammatory conditions such as psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis [3, 25]. The target is currently being leveraged for the development of novel small-molecule therapies designed to address unmet clinical needs in regenerative medicine and longevity [11, 14].
