Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1088 (LINC01088) is a long non-coding RNA primarily characterized by its regulatory influence on gene expression, acting through interactions with RNA-binding proteins and microRNAs. Its functional role is strongly context-dependent: LINC01088 acts as an oncogene in glioma and colorectal cancer, promoting cell proliferation, invasion, and immune escape, while serving as a tumor suppressor in ovarian and esophageal squamous cell carcinomas by inhibiting proliferation and metastatic traits[1][2][3][4]. It is differentially expressed in multiple tumor types, with higher expression marking poor prognosis in glioma and colorectal cancer, and lower expression marking poor prognosis in ovarian and esophageal cancers. Mechanistically, LINC01088 functions by binding and modulating key proteins (e.g., SNRPA, NPM1) and acts as a ceRNA, sequestering specific microRNAs (such as miR-548b-5p, miR-548c-5p, and miR-24-1-5p) to regulate critical downstream targets (including G3BP1, PD-L1, PAK4, and the p53 pathway), ultimately influencing tumor cell proliferation, invasion, and immune evasion[1][2][3][4]. No clinically validated drugs target LINC01088 specifically at present.
Interacts with RNA-binding proteins (e.g. SNRPA in glioma, NPM1 in esophageal cancer) Acts as a molecular sponge for specific microRNAs (e.g. miR-548b-5p, miR-548c-5p, miR-24-1-5p) Regulates downstream effectors (e.g. G3BP1, PD-L1, PAK4, p53 pathway components)
