LINC01096, or long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1096, is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) classified as a long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA), meaning it is transcribed from regions of the genome that do not overlap with protein-coding genes. LINC01096 is implicated in cancer biology, especially triple-negative breast cancer, where it is often overexpressed, correlating with poor prognosis. Experimental silencing of LINC01096 has been shown to inhibit cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and promote apoptosis, largely through regulatory interactions with microRNAs such as miR-3130-3p. Despite its emerging functional relevance in cancer, LINC01096 is not a receptor, protein, or enzyme, and there are currently no known direct drug interactions or mechanisms of action specific to pharmacological therapies targeting it[1][2][3].
