Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1097 (LINC01097) is a human gene that encodes a long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA), a subclass of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcripts that are longer than 200 nucleotides and do not overlap protein-coding genes. LincRNAs represent a part of the non-coding genome and are thought to play roles in fine-tuning gene expression, chromatin remodeling, genome architecture, epigenetic regulation, RNA stability, and enhancer-like activity, typically with remarkable tissue specificity. LINC01097 is not currently recognized as a therapeutic target, and no specific drug interactions or biomarker roles have been described.
