LINC00113 (long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 113) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) mapped to chromosome 21. It is non-protein-coding, meaning it does not translate into a functional protein. LINC00113 is also known as SLERCC, referring to its specific low expression in renal cell carcinoma, and has other aliases such as C21orf23 and NCRNA00113. Functionally, LINC00113 has been implicated in the regulation of cell proliferation, survival, and migration, partly via the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway in atherosclerosis. Its altered expression has potential disease associations in cancer—especially renal cell carcinoma—and possibly atherosclerosis, though it is not a standard drug target. No specific drugs target LINC00113 directly; research tools such as siRNA and shRNA are available for experimental knockdown. Clinical utility as a biomarker remains to be fully validated, and no major safety concerns are reported due to its non-protein-coding nature.
