Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1140 (LINC01140) is a long non-coding RNA, classified as a long intergenic non-coding RNA, that plays regulatory roles in various biological processes and diseases. LINC01140 is highly expressed in several cancers, including lung, gastric, bladder, and breast cancer, where it contributes to tumor cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and immune escape, largely via "sponging" microRNAs such as miR-33a-5p, miR-33b-5p, miR-140-5p, and others. In cancer cells, LINC01140 upregulation is associated with increased PD-L1 expression and poor prognosis. Conversely, LINC01140 knockdown suppresses tumor growth, reduces metastasis, and enhances immune response by decreasing PD-L1. In fibrotic diseases, LINC01140 regulates inflammatory cytokine secretion and promotes fibrosis. Although no direct drug modulators are currently known, LINC01140 is considered a potential therapeutic target and prognostic biomarker, especially in cancer and fibrotic disease contexts
