Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1148 (LINC01148) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) and does not encode a protein[5][1]. It is located in intergenic regions and functions mainly as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA), sequestering and binding to specific microRNAs such as miR-331, which in turn leads to upregulation of downstream oncogenic pathways, including HER2 and activation of Akt/ERK1/2 signaling[3]. LINC01148 has been shown to be upregulated in colorectal cancer (CRC), where increased expression promotes cancer cell proliferation, invasion, and survival, and is associated with more advanced and aggressive disease. Silencing of LINC01148 reduces CRC cell growth and invasion and enhances apoptosis in vitro. Although implicated as a potential biomarker in colorectal cancer diagnosis and progression, LINC01148 is not a classical therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter, and there are no known drugs that directly interact with it or established mechanisms of drug action targeting it[3][1][5].
