Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 115 (LINC00115), also known as FLJ22639, is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that functions as a gene regulator by acting as a molecular sponge for specific microRNAs (such as miR-489-3p and miR-200 family), thereby derepressing oncogenic pathways such as PI3K/AKT/mTOR, ZEB1, and ZNF596 signaling. LINC00115 is highly expressed in multiple human cancers, where its upregulation correlates with increased proliferation, migration, invasion, metastatic capabilities, and poor patient prognosis. Knockdown of LINC00115 suppresses these malignant properties in cancer models, supporting its characterization as an oncogenic lncRNA and an emerging therapeutic target in oncology.
Acts as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) sequestering microRNAs (miRNAs), leading to upregulation of target genes (e.g., PFKFB2, ZEB1, ZNF596). Modulation of PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway (colorectal cancer).
