Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1170 (LINC01170)

LINC01170 (Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1170) is an intergenic long non-coding RNA located on chromosome 5q23.2. It is classified as a lincRNA, defined by its length (>200 nt) and its lack of overlap with protein-coding genes. LINC01170 is overexpressed in endometrial carcinoma and functions as an oncogene by promoting cell proliferation, cell cycle progression, and inhibiting apoptosis via the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. Knockdown experiments indicate that reduction of LINC01170 leads to decreased proliferation, increased cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis in endometrial cancer cells. Its expression level correlates with disease stage and prognosis, making it a putative therapeutic and diagnostic target in oncology.
