Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1203 (LINC01203)

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1203 (LINC01203) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) belonging to the subclass of long intergenic non-coding RNAs (lincRNAs).[5] LincRNAs are defined as RNA transcripts longer than 200 nucleotides that do not overlap with protein-coding genes and are transcribed independently.[1][3] These RNAs usually act within the nucleus and are involved in chromatin remodeling, regulation of transcription, stabilization of RNA, and sometimes act as enhancers or in fine-tuning the expression of neighboring genes.[1][3] While a small number of lincRNAs have been functionally characterized with established roles in gene regulation and disease (most notably cancer), the specific biological function and potential clinical significance of LINC01203 remain unclear, and there are currently no known drugs or therapeutics that target this RNA directly.[1][3][5]
