Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1206 (LINC01206) is a nuclear long non-coding RNA transcript that does not encode protein and is classified among intergenic lincRNAs, a subclass of lncRNAs found outside protein-coding loci. Experimental studies have demonstrated that LINC01206 is overexpressed in psoriatic lesions, promoting keratinocyte proliferation by enhancing cell cycle progression, particularly the G0/G1 phase transition, likely through regulation of Ets homologous factor (EHF) and associated cell cycle checkpoint genes (CCNB1, CCNE1). Knockdown of LINC01206 disrupts cell cycle progression, indicating its functional role in hyperproliferative disease states. LINC01206 is therefore considered a disease-associated lncRNA, with potential as a therapeutic target and biomarker for treatment efficacy in psoriasis. No direct pharmacological agents have been identified that modulate LINC01206 specifically, but its expression profile suggests possible roles in other inflammatory or proliferative disorders.
