Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1214 (LINC01214) is a long non-coding RNA gene that does not encode a protein but functions as a regulatory RNA molecule[1]. It is part of the lncRNA family, which plays important roles in the regulation of gene expression at the epigenetic, transcriptional, and post-transcriptional levels[5][7]. LINC01214 is implicated in various cancers: in colorectal cancer, it promotes cell proliferation and invasion and inhibits apoptosis, partly by acting as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) that sponges microRNAs such as miR-331, resulting in activation of the HER2–Akt/ERK1/2 signaling pathway[3]. In melanoma, LINC01214-mediated pathways have been linked to immune evasion and resistance to immune checkpoint inhibitors, such as anti-PD-1 antibodies, by regulating CD8+ T cell function via the miR-4492/PPP1R11 axis[2]. There are currently no approved drugs that directly target LINC01214, but its expression patterns and functional importance suggest it may serve as a potential biomarker or candidate for future therapeutic strategies in oncology[3][2].
