Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1215 (LINC01215) is a nuclear long non-coding RNA highly expressed in several cancers, notably epithelial ovarian cancer and breast cancer[1][2][4][5]. LINC01215 promotes tumor progression by recruiting DNA methyltransferases (DNMT1, DNMT3A, DNMT3B) to the RUNX3 promoter, leading to RUNX3 methylation and reduced expression, which in turn drives epithelial-mesenchymal transition, cell proliferation, invasion, and metastasis in ovarian cancer models[1][2][5]. Silencing LINC01215 inhibits these aggressive cancer cell behaviors. In prognostic breast cancer studies, elevated LINC01215 is associated with immune infiltration, suggesting a role in immune response regulation[4]. While LINC01215 is identified as a potential therapeutic target and biomarker, its druggability and direct drug interactions are as yet unreported. There is no current evidence of safety concerns unique to targeting LINC01215, but its functions suggest a central role in cancer epigenetics and tumor biology.
