Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1219 (abbreviated as LINC01219) is a human gene transcribed into a long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA)[1][3]. LincRNAs are a subclass of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) defined by their autonomous transcription, absence of overlap with protein-coding genes, and transcript length greater than 200 nucleotides[3][5]. LincRNAs, including LINC01219, are involved in regulating gene expression at multiple levels, such as modifying chromatin structure, stabilizing RNAs, serving as transcriptional enhancers, and modulating cellular processes with strong tissue specificity[3][5]. While the molecular functions of lincRNAs are diverse and lincRNA roles are being actively discovered, most remain poorly characterized for disease-specific mechanisms, and few are established as direct therapeutic targets or clinical biomarkers[3][6]. There is growing interest in using lincRNAs as molecular classification tools or biomarkers in cancer, but the evidence for LINC01219’s disease involvement remains limited predominantly to bioinformatics annotations and indirect association studies[1][6].
