Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1220 (LINC01220) is a long non-coding RNA located on chromosome 14q24.3 that does not code for a protein product. LINC01220 is reported to be upregulated in endometrial carcinoma tissues compared to adjacent normal tissue, and its expression is positively correlated with tumor grade and stage[2][4][3][5]. Functional studies indicate that LINC01220 promotes the proliferation and survival of endometrial cancer cells by upregulating MAPK11, a protein kinase that plays a role in oncogenic signaling pathways. Knockdown of LINC01220 in endometrial cancer cells reduces proliferation and colony formation and increases apoptosis, suggesting an oncogenic function in this context[2][4][5]. Currently, LINC01220 is regarded as a regulator rather than a classic therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter. No drugs are known to interact directly with LINC01220, but it may serve as a biomarker or a candidate for future RNA-targeted therapeutic strategies in cancer[2][4][5][3][1].
