Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1232 (LINC01232) is a long non-coding RNA implicated as a key regulator in the progression of multiple cancers, including pancreatic adenocarcinoma, gastric cancer, esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, and clear cell renal cell carcinoma. It acts by sponging specific microRNAs such as miR-654-3p and miR-204-5p, modulating expression of oncogenes or tumor suppressors, and by recruiting or interacting with chromatin-modifying complexes such as EZH2 to influence gene transcription through histone methylation. High expression of LINC01232 correlates with increased tumor growth, invasion, poor prognosis and adverse patient outcomes. Its functional relevance in disease and its upstream/downstream molecular connections make it a potential molecular target and a prognostic biomarker, though it is not a traditional drug target such as a receptor, enzyme, or ion channel[1][2][3][4].
Epigenetic silencing of tumor suppressor genes by recruiting chromatin modifiers (e.g., EZH2 for histone H3K27 methylation); Competitive binding to microRNAs (e.g., sponging miR-654-3p and miR-204-5p) to regulate downstream targets; Regulation of mRNA stability via recruiting RNA-binding proteins (e.g., EIF4A3)
