Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1264 (LINC01264) is a member of the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) family, specifically classified as a long intergenic non-protein-coding RNA[3]. LINC01264 itself does not encode a protein, but instead has regulatory roles at the RNA level. Published research demonstrates that LINC01264 is upregulated in certain human cancers, such as colorectal cancer (CRC), where it promotes cell proliferation and invasion[1][3]. Mechanistically, LINC01264 functions as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA), directly binding to and "sponging" microRNA miR-331, thereby relieving inhibition on oncogenic targets such as human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). This leads to downstream activation of signaling pathways like Akt and ERK1/2, known to drive tumor cell growth and survival[1]. There are currently no known drugs that directly target LINC01264, nor is it widely established as a therapeutic target. However, its role in cancer biology and regulation of oncogenic signaling networks suggest it may serve as a potential biomarker or indirect therapeutic target in relevant malignancies[1][3].
