Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1287 (LINC01287) is a **long non-coding RNA (lncRNA)** located in an intergenic region and does not code for protein. It acts primarily as an **oncogene in various cancers**, such as hepatocellular carcinoma, cervical cancer, and lung adenocarcinoma. LINC01287 functions as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA), binding and sequestering microRNAs (e.g., miR-298, miR-513a-5p, miR-3529-5p), which leads to the upregulation of their mRNA targets (e.g., STAT3, MYB, SERP1, RNASEH2A). Experimental downregulation of LINC01287 decreases cell proliferation, suppresses invasion and metastasis, alters cell cycle dynamics, and increases apoptosis in cancer cell models. Its high expression is correlated with poor prognosis in several cancers. As a result, LINC01287 is studied as a potential **therapeutic target and biomarker** for certain tumor types, especially for its role in the ceRNA network and tumor progression
