Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1290 (LINC01290) is a human long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA), meaning it is a non-protein-coding transcript greater than 200 nucleotides in length, located between protein-coding genes and not overlapping their sequences[1][5]. Like other lincRNAs, LINC01290 is believed to participate in the regulation of gene expression, chromatin architecture, and possibly epigenetic modifications, although its specific molecular mechanism and gene targets remain to be fully characterized[3][7]. LINC01290 has been included in multi-lncRNA prognostic gene signatures for certain cancers, such as soft tissue sarcoma, suggesting its expression may be relevant in cancer biomarker panels or future studies on non-coding RNAs in oncogenesis[4]. However, it is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or established direct therapeutic target. There are currently no known drugs or specific molecular inhibitors directly targeting LINC01290, nor are there well-characterized safety concerns associated with its modulation in therapeutic contexts.
