Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1297 (LINC01297)

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 1297 (LINC01297) is a long non-coding RNA gene located on chromosome 14. It does not encode a protein but instead produces a functional RNA molecule that may play a role in regulation of gene expression. LINC01297 is significantly upregulated in estrogen receptor–positive breast cancers and is one of several long non-coding RNAs whose expression robustly differentiates breast tumors from normal tissue. It is implicated in molecular subtype-specific lncRNA signatures in breast cancer, with potential as a biomarker for tumor classification and patient stratification, but is not a direct therapeutic target such as a receptor or enzyme[3][4][7].
